Pro ocean x Isar Pyrolysis

In 2025, the TAO Foundation initiated a groundbreaking pilot project in collaboration with Pro Ocean and the Munich-based technology company Isar Pyrolysis. Pro Ocean is committed to collecting and reducing marine plastic in the Philippines.
Isar Pyrolysis develops mobile, modular reactors for the decentralized processing of plastic waste using pyrolysis, a process that converts plastic waste into recyclable pyrolysis oil, i.e., fuel.
The TAO Foundation brought the two partners together and financed the provision of a pyrolysis reactor as well as the construction of the joint project on site. The goal is to efficiently process collected plastic waste directly on the coast, thereby contributing to local environmental protection and a circular economy.
The system test was successfully completed in December 2024.
