Petition against whaling in the Faroe Islands
Together with PETA Germany, we are campaigning to end the cruel hunting of pilot whales and dolphins in the Faroe Islands, with the TAO Foundation financing an international petition. Every year, hundreds to over a thousand toothed whales—including pilot whales, Atlantic white-beaked dolphins, bottlenose dolphins, and porpoises—are brutally killed there. The animals are driven into bays, stranded, and then killed with metal hooks and knives, often suffering for minutes.
With our financial support, PETA was able to launch a large-scale petition that puts political pressure on the Faroe Islands administration and the Danish government. The demand is clear: an immediate end to these slaughters and the enforcement of international protection standards for marine mammals.
By supporting PETA in this project, we want to help draw more attention to this issue worldwide and encourage even more people to raise their voices against this cruel hunt.

Awareness campaign “Save Whales – Vegan Diet”
To raise awareness for ocean conservation, the TAO Foundation is supporting PETA Germany with another awareness and advertising campaign. This campaign will be distributed across various social media channels and informs about the dramatic consequences of commercial fishing for whales and dolphins.
The campaign highlights: Every year, hundreds of thousands of marine mammals die as bycatch in fishing nets. Old fishing gear such as ghost nets contributes massively to ocean pollution and causes the agonizing deaths of countless animals. Overfishing also deprives whales of their food source.
In the campaign, PETA demonstrates how everyone can actively contribute to whale conservation: by choosing a plant-based diet. This effectively reduces overfishing, bycatch, and the destruction of marine habitats.
With our support, we ensure that this message reaches a broad public and provides concrete options for action.
