Paws of Bačka Palanka – Help for stray dogs in Serbia

The Serbian animal welfare association Paws of Bačka Palanka is passionately committed to helping stray dogs and cats. All members work on a voluntary basis and finance their work exclusively through donations. In just one and a half years, over 100 abandoned animals have been rescued, given medical care, and rehomed, mostly under difficult conditions, as there are neither animal shelters nor government support.

In 2024, the association turned to the TAO Foundation in great need when a young dog was hit by a car in a landfill and required several operations. Thanks to immediate support, medical treatment, vaccinations, neutering, food, transportation costs, and a safe outdoor enclosure could be financed. Particularly moving is the story of the dog Srećko, who was successfully operated on and cared for after a serious accident.

In 2025, the association turned to the foundation again to pay outstanding veterinary bills and enable a second operation for Srećko so that he could walk better again despite his serious leg injuries.

The support provided to Paws of Bačka Palanka clearly shows how targeted assistance can save lives and how much can be achieved when committed individuals and sponsors work together.
